Leadership in Remote Teams

REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAMME IS NOW CLOSED. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH TO ENQUIRE ABOUT FURTHER COURSES OR IN-HOUSE DELIVERY.

This unique event will provide current or potential leaders of remote teams with an abundance of practical, actionable skills and techniques to develop effective remote leadership skills.

Using a range of media and tools, participants will gain an understanding of:

  • Organisational and individual challenges to remote team functioning

  • Tools and techniques to facilitate effective communication and collaboration

  • How to create and promote a team culture of growth and productivity

  • Coaching skills and how to lead by example, from personal growth to working out loud

This is a highly flexible programme delivered over two working weeks, which will require active participation and interaction on a daily basis to get the most benefit. For this reason numbers are carefully limited.

Who is this programme for?

This workshop is designed to equip current leaders of remote teams with a new mindset and ideas to implement to enhance their skillset, whatever level of experience and competence they bring to the group. However it will also be valuable to those individuals anticipating a transition to remote team management, or whose team may be exploring options for flexible working in future.

If you have any questions about your own suitability for the course, get in touch.

When will the course run?

The workshop will be delivered throughout Monday - Friday, 12th - 23rd February 2018.
Real time interactions will take place between 8am - 7pm GMT.

How will it be delivered?

We’ll interact via a daily email, which will guide you through a specific aspect of remote team leadership, then provide questions to guide you to take action or review your current communication and processes. (You will need about half an hour a day to address the questions/points in the exercise.)

There will be plenty of opportunities to interact with the tutors and participants both in real-time and asynchronously.

We’ll have a private Slack Workspace, where you’ll be able to join in daily discussions with the facilitators and your fellow participants, to reflect on the learning material. By bringing your own ideas and experiences to the discussion, you will get the chance to gain input into solving your own challenges and see how others are solving their own. (If you enjoy learning by being involved in discussions, you'll need to set aside about half and hour a day to engage with the platform.)

If you haven’t used Slack before, don’t worry, we’ll guide you through it. It’s a great tool for asynchronous, threaded conversations - so you can jump in whenever you have time to interact, on a wide range of devices and platforms.

As well as facilitating the ongoing discussion on Slack, we’ll schedule a flexible daily coffee or lunch break video chat (lasting around 40 minutes), which every participant is welcome to join in - bring your own refreshments, and any burning issues arising. We’ll vary the timings, so that everyone can benefit from the maximum opportunity to interact.

Finally, we’ll be introducing you to a ‘Virtual Co-working’ space, where participants can share a sense of connectedness and signal availability to communicate, whilst getting on with our own work, wherever we are and whatever we’re doing. The course facilitators will also be “hanging out” in this online space, available for real time ad-hoc interactions on chat, audio or video.

Our co-working space will be open to participants throughout the workshop duration.

What content will be covered?

Our bespoke VIRTUAL model for remote teams will provide the structure for the daily learning and reflection.
